Fire at Berkshire Ave.

Thick black smoke is pouring from a attic window as firefighters train hoses on the vinyl clad house.

One crew is training hoses on it from the street, another is using the bucket of the tower truck to attack it from above and on the left side.

A child’s red plastic toy truck is on the porch drenched in cascades of water.

Fifteen people live in the three story home at 511 Berkshire Ave. in Bridgeport, and all got out safely when a fire broke out early Wednesday.

“I was asleep,” resident Dave Parker said.”My aunt came in my room and said there was a fire. I got out quick.”

Assistant Chief Robert Petrucelli said the smoky conditions and heat made it unsafe for firefighters to remain inside once it was determined that all of the residents were accounted for.
