Kevin W. Edwards Delivers Captivating Historical Record and Personal Narrative

Edwards, author of the engrossing new historical nonfiction book, Destination~Vienna (published by AuthorHouse). In his new chronicle, Edwards depicts the startling series of events that played out after the Treaty of Versailles was signed that would eventually hurl the world into the deadliest military conflict in history from the perspective of one individual, William W. Edwards, the author’s late father and a B24 bomber navigator in the 15th Army Air Force.

Combining authentic statements from world leaders, interviews and historical fact with his own father’s personal narratives, Edwards examines the causes and events that culminated in the outbreak of World War II and how American citizens became entangled in the dynamics of a world at war. Beginning with the Treaty of Versailles, Edwards traces the complex web of international tensions that resulted in his father’s enlistment. The elder Edwards writes of his experience:
During these times, we tried to live as normal a life as possible, and we would stop by Tomlinson’s hot dog stand located on the corner of Noble and Concord, go for ice cream at Graves Confectionary at Fairfield Avenue and Middle Street …
But all that false sense of ‘normalcy’ seemed to dissolve quickly when I heard the radio announcer’s stunning words of the news of Sunday, December 7,1941, that the Japanese Empire had sneak attacked the fleet at Pearl Harbor.
When President Roosevelt spoke on December the 8th, these words “Yesterday, December 7, 1941 a date that will live in infamy the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.” It was clear that everything was now going to change.

Kevin W. Edwards was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and graduated from Bridgeport Engineering Institute with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., with a master’s degree in teaching. He has worked as a mechanical engineer and manufacturing executive for over 30 years before becoming a high school mathematics teacher. He and his wife, Sharon, live with their two children in Connecticut.
