About Mayor Boughton

Mark D. Boughton

Serving his fourth term in office, Mayor Boughton has made large strides in Danbury, Connecticut. Born and raised in Danbury, Mayor Boughton attended Danbury public schools and graduated from Danbury High School in 1982. Upon graduation, he remained in his home state and attended Central Connecticut State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in History. He went on to receive his Master’s Degree from Western Connecticut State University in his hometown and was employed as a Social Studies teacher at Danbury High School for fourteen years. A highly regarded educator, he has been and continues to be a leading advocate of quality education for all children.

Having always had a deep love for public service, Mark served three years as Connecticut’s 138th District State Representative. During that time, Boughton achieved a perfect voting record in the General Assembly, where he was ranking member of the Environment Committee, as well as member of the Education Committee.

While in office, Mayor Boughton has been committed to the revitalization of downtown, infrastructure improvement, blocking local casino development, improving neighborhoods and government technology as well as a top notch educational system. His “People Over Politics” and “ People Over Progress” philosophy has evolved into a bi-partisan form of governing.

In the last two years Mayor Boughton has committed himself to downsizing and reorganizing our government, solid financial management, upgrading and modernizing our schools, enacting new legislation to protect our children and our neighborhoods, delivering new customer service tools such as Cityline 311, phone and email notification, Danbury Television (DTV) and drastic public safety improvements including a new state-of-the-art police station.

Mayor Boughton is devoted to making Danbury the “greatest place to live work and be educated.” The Mayor is proudly married to Phyllis Boughton, who is his biggest supporter.

    Dear Editor:

We would like to comment on the City of Danbury’s Mayor Mark D. Boughton reelection campaign. Under the direction of Mayor Boughton and Police Chief A. Baker through his administration we have observed a huge improvement in not only the quality of city Policing Services, but the level of professionalism in which services are provided. Through Mayor Mark D. Boughton’s administration we as a profession and industry have noted a great improvement in Law Enforcement & Security relations in the City of Danbury in the last few years. We have observed that Police are more professional, polite, and at times friendly, while performing their duties. We have found them to be less hostile, confrontational, or arrogant towards security service providers and people in the greater Danbury area. Although, there is always room for improvement in public & security relations, and communications between our professions and the general public. It is based on these observations, we strongly urge other Security Officers, their family members, and employees of businesses who use security to protect their businesses to support Mayor Mark Boughton’s reelection bid to office.

    Sincerely,

    David M. Marchetti, Principal, CLSO.
    Commerce Security Services, LLC.
    Chairman, CLSOA.
