The police force in Dubai is getting a Bugatti Veyron, the world’s fastest production car, to patrol the mean streets of the emirate, according to this piece in Autoweek. Watch out, Justin Bieber, in your paltry Lamborghini. Dubai PD is on the job.
The problem, of course, is where the Dubai cops can put the pair of miscreants they just picked up. The Veyron only holds the driver and a passenger. Call for backup.
The Dubai police force already has an Audi R8 and a Ferrari and a few other lesser cars, par for this rich emirate, and there are no problems fueling all these thirsty beasts, given the oceans of oil in that particular region.
Keep in mind that the Veyron, depending on the model, runs from just under $2 million to about $2.5 million, but that can come out of the Sheik’s petty cash drawer. As for drag races on Dubai’s main roads, the Veyron will top 254 miles an hour in street trim. Wanna go for pink slips? Don’t even think about it.
I had a chance to try one of these luxo rides last spring and, yes, it is a fast car. Is it worth $2.5 million? Depends on the size of your petty cash drawer.
