Behind the wheel of vehicles of all types

A $200 car — then again, it’s a 1977 Fiat.

|

It’s hard to go wrong with a $200 car. After all, it’s the price of a (possibly frugal) night on the town and what do you have the next morning, save the hangover?

The car in question is a 1977 Fiat 131S Mirafiori, a four-door sedan. Mirafiori is a suburb of Turin, where the car was built. By that logic, we could name a popular Detroit product the Cadillac Plymouth (no, might be confusing) or the Cadillac Royal Oak.

The 1977 Fiat needs, um, a bit of work., but it is intact — engine, transmission, body, interior, tires and rust. Given that it’s sitting in the dryness of Reno, Nevada, it’s not going to get much more rust.

The seller says he bought the car from an estate and was going to restore it but now finds he doesn’t have the time. More here on the Rusty but Trusty site.
