The Terrapins outlasted the Blue Devils 35-32 in a well-played sixth grade boys basketball game on Saturday at Darien High School.
The Terps got key rebounds and strong defense from Cole Armstrong and Jack Shapter, several steals by Will Culliton and excellent hustle defense from Alex McKay in the win.
The Terps’ scoring was led by Max Gasvoda (12 points), John Giannattasio (11 points) and Patrick Burke (8 points), who also blocked three shots. Charlie Baylis made some nifty passes and added a basket, while Drew Evanchik scrapped for every loose ball and added a key basket.
The Blue Devils were paced by Will Rooney, who had 12 points and was outstanding from the free throw line, while Chase Zammit played excellent defense and added 10 points. Nick Casciara sliced through the defense for five points and Jamie Mitchell and Bobby Neuner rounded out the scoring for the Blue Devils with three and two points, respectively. Nicholas Duffy had several rebounds and played strong defense for the Blue Devils.
