The Darien High School ski team got off to a good start in its first race of the new season against Greenwich, Litchfield, New Canaan and Laurelton Hall at the Mt. Southington Ski Area on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
With a time of 327.32, the girls varsity team finished second by defeating Laurelton Hall (366.51) and losing to Greenwich (324.50). With a time of 311.06, the boys varsity team finished second by defeating Greenwich (311.36) and Litchfield (356.02) while losing to New Canaan (307.15).
Girls times this week were captain Fay Rizzuto (50.41), Katharine Graham (50.97), Taylor Hart (52.49), captain Kelsey Edgar (55.67), Abby Howe (57.27), Courtney Kyritz (60.51), Caitlin Keady (62.29), Madison Maier (64.34), Bridget Lattimer (64.53) and Ali Bonfils (72.85).
Boys times this week were captain Peter Del Col (47.78), Chris Brophy (50.25), Will McCoy (51.51), Graham Lesko (53.43), Matt Nelson (53.57), Nick Wolf (54.52), Mac Forbes (58.19), Andy Mogenson (DSQ), Mike Rizzuto (DSQ) and Nick Howe (DSQ).

Coaches Brian Zeyer and Marc Power are leading the teams again this year.
“The boys and girls teams both had good nights last night,” Zeyer said. “The snow conditions were not the best but the teams did a great job.”
