Darien boys and girls ski teams place third and fourth, respectively

The Darien High School ski team enjoyed a good snow day for its third race of the season against Amity, Cheshire and Staples at the Mt. Southington Ski Area on Thursday, Feb. 7.

With a time of 341.86, the girls varsity team defeated Guilford (DSQ) and Pomperaug (DSQ) while losing to Barlow (305.73), Fairfield (307.95) and Weston (325.77).

With a time of 296.12, the boys varsity team defeated Barlow (304.81), Danbury (351.45), Guilford (317.94) and Pomperaug (323.67) while losing to Fairfield (280.95) and Weston (293.59).

Girls times this week were Katharine Graham (50.16), Courtney Kyritz (55.33), co-captain Kelsey Edgar (55.51), Abby Howe (59.37), Caitlin Keady (59.72), Adriana Dziedzic (61.77), Madison Maier (64.76), Lila Seeman (66.45), Taylor Hart (DSQ) and Fay Rizzuto (DSQ).

Boys’ times this week were co-captain Peter Del Col (46.93), co-captain Chris Brophy (48.73), Will McCoy (49.43), Matt Nelson (49.91), Graham Lesko (50.03), Mike Rizzuto (51.09), Graham Skeats (52.76), Chris von Stuelpnagel (53.24), Nick Wolf (54.55) and Sean Edgar (56.01).

“The snow conditions went from slush to ice as the temperature dropped, making the second run treacherous,” Darien coach Brian Zeyer said.
