Source: SHU to hire Jessica Mannetti as next women’s coach

The Connecticut Post has learned that Sacred Heart University will hire Hofstra assistant Jessica Mannetti to be its next women’s basketball coach. SHU has not commented on the hire.

Mannetti reportedly was one of four finalists for the job along with current SHU assistant Jen Wedo, Villanova assistant Heather Vulin and Virginia Tech assistant Thomas Joyce. Unlike Vulin and Wedo, Mannetti has no previous ties to the SHU program or former head coach Ed Swanson, who left to coach at William & Mary.

Mannetti spent five years as an assistant coach on Krista Kilburn-Steveskey’s staff at Hofstra. She has also served as the head coach of the U-17 girls’ team for the CT Future Stars AAU Basketball program (2004-08) and was  the varsity head coach at Green Farms Academy in Westport.

Also, Mannetti, a 2011 Concordia College graduate, worked for the New York Knicks as an intern and also with New York Liberty.
