Sydney Johnson and the Fairfield men’s basketball staff will host a coaching clinic on Oct. 20 at Alumni Hall. The clinic will feature three former basketball coaches – Bill Carmody, Seth Greenberg and Mitch Buonaguro.
Carmody supervised the basketball program at Princeton University and Northwestern University, where he amassed 284 wins over 17 seasons. Under his guidance, the Tigers and the Wildcats earned two NCAA Tournament bids and made six NIT appearances. He will speak about building a team offense and offensive skill development.
Greenberg spent 22 seasons at the helm of Long Beach State, South Florida, and Virginia Tech and collected 378 career victories, leading the programs to three NCAA tournaments and eight NIT appearances. He will discuss building a half-court defense.
Buonaguro led Fairfield to NCAA tournament appearances in 1986 and 1987, and also coached at Siena. Buonaguro will address late game situations and practice preparation.
The clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For information, contact Kyle Koncz at (203) 254-4000 ext. 2791 or through email – firstname.lastname@example.org.
