There was everything from a Beatles Tribute group (they sounded somewhat like the Fab Four, but with little physical resemblance), to jazz great Chris Coogan, who mesmerized audiences at Christ and Trinity Church.
There were magicians, face-painters, and caricatures for kids, and fortune tellers, palm readers, psychics and Tarot Card readers for those looking for some hope that 2010 will be a better year than the one that is now past. There were also horse and buggy rides for those who liked the distant past better.
And there was just enough snow to make the small streets glitter with the hope of a fresh, new year. Finally, there was a fireworks display over the river to wake everyone up and remind them the old, tired and for many, disappointing 2009, is finally at an end.
It’s all happened at First Night Westport/Wilton, and for those who were there, there did indeed seem to be a sense the coming year might just be better. As one person said “Hey, it can’t possibly be any worse … right?”
