Blake’s the late show Saturday

Fairfield’s own James Blake will be the nightcap at the U.S. Open tennis on Saturday. Blake, seeded 21st, will play No. 14 Tommy Robredo of Spain in the third round after Dinara Safina, the women’s top seed, plays  Petra Kvitova starting at 7 p.m. The Tennis channel will televise the matches from Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The day session at Arthur Ashe (Ch. 2, 3) is Roger Federer (1), Switzerland, vs. Lleyton Hewitt (31), Australia; Not before 1 p.m.: Melanie Oudin, United States, vs. Maria Sharapova (29), Russia; and John Isner, United States, vs. Andy Roddick (5), United States

Another pro from Fairfield, golf’s J.J. Henry, shot a 1-over par 72 in the first round round of the Deutsche Bank championship. Henry’s is currently in a tie for 75th.
