It’s finally gone.
The old carousel-themed bar that was for AGES a prominent lobby feature at downtown Bridgeport’s Holiday Inn is no longer.
In its stead is the sophisticated, chic Blue Martini Lounge that just opened at the 1070 Main Street hotel. The design — featuring soft blue lighting, comfortable club chairs and sofas — is modern yet warm and inviting. Beige floor-to-ceiling curtains are hung throughout the bar and can be drawn to create intimate spaces for groups or parties.
On Saturday night, it was fun to watch patrons enjoying the dapper surroundings and chatting at the bar. As its name implies, martinis are a specialty. The Blue Martini, for example, uses Stoli strawberry vodka, Triple Sec, Blue Curacao and a splash of sour mix ($8). The Apple Martini ($7) features Smirnoff Twisted Apple Vodka, apple schnapps and a splash of sour mix. There are plenty of wines by the glass ($5/$5.50) , as well as wines by the bottle ranging from $25 to $32. A a glass of sparking wine can be had for $6. Champagnes by the bottle range from $15 for Wycliff to $150 for Dom Perignon.
The new bar is part of the hotel’s overall renovation, which included a handsome redesign of the guest rooms and public spaces. (A new large gurgling fountain is an eye-catcher in the lobby!)

Thank you Phyllis, you are the best! So glad you noticed that great changes have been made. We are truly the “chic” inn place to see and be seen. Eveyone is having fun from the Martini’s to the Blue Barbies, dry rubbed slow roasted prk with a zesty barbecue sauce and shredded lettuce on a toasted mini roll. Always a pleasure to have you and your friends with us, visit anytime. May you and yours share a joyous holiday season.
All the best, Lorraine
