The good news for beleaguered voters in any towns with hot races is there’s no mail delivery Sunday. The bad news is that that means there’re still four more days (including today) for your box to get stuffed.
The reason for this largesse is that some political committees, never mind the suffering economy, have raked the cash in.
In Trumbull, where incumbent First Selectman Raymond G. Baldwin Jr. doesn’t have his own committee, the Democratic Town Committee has raised more than $200,000 this year. Meanwhile, the combined Republican Town Committee, a political action committee and first selectman hopeful Timothy Herbst’s own committee have raised well over $100,000 according to reports on file in the Town Clerk’s office.
I can’t wait until Tim Herbst wins and cleans house.
