A single-engine plane has gone down near Waterbury/Oxford Airport. Sources say there was a large explosion in an area off Christian Street off Commerce Drive that caused power outages in the area when it took down all the tranmission lines. One person on the plane was seriously injured. That person was taken to Waterbury Hospital.
“Every emergency vehicle in town is out there,” said August Palmer, former first selectman, who was at the scene.
All roads to the crash scene have been blocked off.
