The deadline looms for Stratford officials to determine whether Police Officer Justine LoSchiavo can return to active duty six months after being placed on “light duty” as a result of crashing his patrol car into four vehicles last June while having a seizure.
But some cops and residents fear what could happen if LoSchiavo got back into his patrol car and was permitted again to carry a loaded weapon.
Despite being warned in 2005 and 2006 by doctors, the former CAO and police chief that the son of former Deputy Police Chief Joseph LoSchiavo and Human Resources Assistant Linda LoSchiavo should not be hired for medical and other reasons, then-Mayor James R. Miron hired him anyway.
Then, LoSchiavo crashed while having a seizure, and his license was suspended for six months. In August he was placed on 180 days of light duty that ends Feb. 22. “This was someone hired under the former administration for reasons it is difficult to fathom considering all the warnings at the time,” says Adam Bauer, chief of staff for new Mayor John A. Harkins.
Look for the story in Friday’s Connecticut Post.

Does that family have anyone in it that is NOT on the town payroll??

This whole issue has been blown out of proportion.
All you conspiracy theorists- get a life.
Justy was the best candidate- plain and simple.
Don’t be jealous-it is natural law of selectivity
His father was a cop, his brother is a cop, his sister-in-law is a cop
It stands to reason he is a cop, it’s the family business
Protecting you! And now you still complain? Unbelievable!
Some stratford crybabies are never happy
You people just can’t appreciate that this kid gave it his all, damn it!
Weizel is just beating a dead horse

I thought Carmen’s family business post was sarcastic, but she seems to mean it. Guess she missed the ‘medically unqualified’ part. Stratford was lucky there were no injuries in the officer’s first police dept accident, as well as his stint at Public Works.

How does Linda get a pass through all this, people have been disqualified for much less at spd. Fire the cop and his mother, she’s just a bad as the mayor and father!
