At 11 p.m. on Friday state troopers received a strange call. The Bridgeport Correctional Facility – I’m guessing on North Avenue – was reporting that an inmate was found to be in possession of narcotics.
When the state trooper arrived he discovered 6 small baggies in the left front pant pocket of inmate Juan V. Torres’ pants.
Torres, who turns 43 on Valentine’s Day, was arrested – in jail? – and charged with possession of a controlled substance and unathorized conveyance of items into a correctional facility.
His bond was set at $5,000. He has to appear in court on Monday. A search of Torres’ name in both the state judicial Web site and the Dept. of Correction inmate search shows he was arrested in 2008 for engaging police in pursuit and/or interfering with an officer.
