Merritt Parkway backed up due to tree cutting

Traffic is snarled on the Merritt Parkway southbound from exit 53 to exit 50 and beyond. It could be that way for a couple of hours as the state Department of Transportation cuts down trees along that stretch of roadway, according to state police.
