HARTFORD – A day of mourning for the victims of Sunday’s explosion in Middletown was announced this morning by Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
The governor ordered state flags will be flown at half-staff from sunup to sundown Wednesday. A moment of silence will be observed at 11 a.m., about the time that the blast occurred at the Kleen Energy Systems plant that was under construction on River Road in Middletown.
“Connecticut’s people always come together in the face of a tragedy,” Rell said in a statement. “On Wednesday let us remember the lives that were lost in this disaster and the grief of the families the workers left behind. May our thoughts and prayers offer some measure of consolation in a time of loss and infinite heartache.”
