Vigil planned for brother and sister killed in car crash

A vigil is planned tonight at 7 p.m. at the scene of the accident that killed a Milford brother and sister Sunday afternoon. Paul Heron, 19, and his sister, Alexa, 15, died after the 1995 Honda Civic Paul was driving hit a telephone pole on Gulf Street near Gulf Beach near old Field Lane.
That’s the spot where the vigil is planned.
The accident took place shortly before 3:20 p.m. Sunday. The cause is still under investigation.
Paul was a Foran High School graduate, his sister was a student at the school.

Suspect in Trumbull home burglary nabbed

A man fleeing the scene of an attempted home burglary on Riverbend Road this afternoon was caught, police said, while his accomplice escaped into the woods.

A burglary in progress was reported about 1:50 p.m. in a neighborhood near the lower section of Daniels Farm Road, adjacent to Route 25, police said.
Officers apprehended one of the suspected burglars while the other fled into the Pequonnock River Valley, a heavily wooded area behind Riverbend Road.

Identity of the man taken into custody has not been confirmed so far. Specific charges also have not been assigned since the incident is still under investigation, said Deputy Police Chief Michael Harry.

State Police troopers joined the search with a police dog and began tracking the suspect, but called off the search about an hour later, Harry said.

The vehicle used in the burglary had been reported stolen in Norwalk. Police towed it back to headquarters for the investigation.
