SHELTON – A two-year-old girl is in intensive care at Yale-New Haven Hospital after she fell into the swimming pool at her Ladis Place home Wednesday afternoon.
Police and EMS received the call of the child not breathing about 1:30 p.m., Det. Sgt. Kevin Ahern said.
The girl had apparently unlatched a screen door to get out of the house, Ahern said, and fell into the above-ground pool. The pool didn’t have a cover on it, he said.
The girl’s mother and grandfather were home at the time, he said. Echo Hose Ambulance transported the child to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she is in critical condition in the pediatric intensive care unit.
