STRATFORD— Mayor John A. Harkins issued the following statement Thursday regarding the status of the town’s efforts to obtain state and/or federal disaster aid:
“At the moment, State and Federal authorities are still making preliminary damage assessments to determine what, if any, funding will be made available to our community. Stratford could be approved for aid to pay for cleanup costs incurred by the town, individual aid to assist homeowners and businesses suffering losses during the storm, both types of aid, or none at all. More information will be disseminated by the town as it is made available to us. In the meantime, residents should maintain photographic evidence of any damage sustained to their property as well as all insurance records and relevant receipts and report said damage to the Mayor’s Office at 203-385-4001. The information collected in this report may be necessary in order to aid the town in seeking disaster funding, but does not constitute a filing of any sort of legal claim.”
