A male motorist led Fairfield police on a chase into Bridgeport that ended shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday when he crashed into an oncoming vehicle at the intersection of Mountain Grove Street and Fairfield Avenue.
Police said the man made an illegal U-turn and sped away when an officer attempted to pull him over for talking on a cell phone while driving in Fairfield.
When the man ignored a stop sign at Mountain Grove Street and Fairfield Avenue, his blue Neon was T-boned by a white jeep, police said.
The two passengers inside the white vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
The man abandoned the heavily damaged vehicle and fled north on Mountain Grove Street, according to police. Police have not yet detained him.
