McMahon backs Kagan for Supreme Court

Linda McMahon, the GOP-endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate, said Wednesday she would support Senate confirmation of Elana Kagan to the Supreme Court.

Only one Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted in favor of Kagan Tuesday. Her nomination easily moved from the committee to the Democratic-controlled Senate, where it is expected to pass.

McMahon hasn’t often been in support of anything advanced by President Obama. But, in an appearance before the Connecticut Post editorial board Wednesday, the former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO said a president of either party should have a Supreme Court nomination approved unless the nominee is “absolutely unqualified.”

“Based on what I saw of Elana Kagan, I would have voted to approve her nomination,” McMahon said. “I didn’t find anything glaring to disqualify her.”
