The Fairfield American Little League New England Champions will return to Fairfield on Thursday. The team will be leaving Williamsport, Penn. on Thursday to head back to their hometown of Fairfield. They and will arrive at the Sherman Green Gazebo around 2:15 p.m.
Town officials and residents are invited to meet and greet the team at the Gazebo and welcome them back from their exciting and memorable experience at the World Series.
On Saturday, at 3 pm, Fairfield will host a town-wide celebration to honor this impressive team and its coaches. This year’s 10, 11, and 12-year old Boys’ American Little League District teams and the Girls softball champions will also be recognized for their victories.
Beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday, the teams and town/state officials will parade starting at the Fairfield Library on Old Post Road and ending at the historic green by the Fairfield Museum and History Center. The Town invites all residents and area fans to line the parade route and then join in the celebration.
The first selectman will give the Fairfield American Little League Champion team the Key to the Town in recognition as the Town’s first team to ever participate in the Little League International World Series. First Selectman Kenneth Flatto will issue certificates of congratulations to all individual team members and their coaches.
Flatto said, “It’s very exciting for the Fairfield community to be part of such a special and historic time that we will all remember for decades to come. We are extremely proud of the Fairfield American Little League team and commend them for their spirit, hard work, and sportsmanship!”
