The National Weather Service reaffirmed the tropical storm watch for Bridgeport and the coastal Fairfield County areas with its 11 a.m. advisory.
The Bridgeport forecast calls for sustained winds between 15 to 20 mph Friday afternoon, with the winds speeding up to 25 or 30 mph in the evening. Gusts could reach or exceed 40 mph.
About half an inch of rain could fall Friday, with the storm tapering off around midnight. Expect rough waves on Long Island Sound, officials have said.
The NWS also issued a tropical storm warning for the New Haven area, which extends up through coastal Rhode Island. For southeastern Massachusetts there’s currently a hurricane warning, which means sustained winds exceeding 73 mph are “expected” in the next 36 hours.
