The thunderstorm tonight has left about 9,000 United Illuminating customers without power, a spokesman said, with a good number of them in Bridgeport, Stratford and Fairfield.
“We’re still assessing what’s going on,” Ed Crowder said, “but we’ve got reports of trees down, that sort of thing.”
As of 9:40 p.m., the company website says that 3,841 Bridgeport homes (or 6.6% of the city) are in the dark, while 1,702 Stratford homes are without power (or 7.4%).
The Stratford police said the outages are scattered about the town and that there are no reports of injuries or significant damage as of now.
