Goodwill gives out free backpacks

When students return to eight Connecticut schools this fall, Goodwill staff will greet them with brand new backpacks filled with school supplies. Each backpack contains essential supplies to allow students to begin the year with the tools they need to succeed. Schools benefiting from the backpack giveaway this year include Longfellow, Beardsley and Waltersville Schools in Bridgeport, Duggan School in Waterbury, Silver Lane Elementary in East Hartford, Shelter Rock School in Danbury, WISH School in Hartford, and Kendall Elementary in Norwalk.

In all, 3,500 backpacks, a thousand more than last year, will be distributed to students courtesy of Goodwill.
Goodwill will distribute backpacks starting on Monday, August 29 with Waltersville School in Bridgeport at 10:30 a.m. and Duggan School in Waterbury at 1:00 p.m. Backpacks will then be delivered to WISH School in Hartford on August 30, Kendall Elementary in Norwalk and Beardsley School in Bridgeport on August 31, Shelter Rock School in Danbury on September 1, Silver Lane Elementary in East Hartford on September 2 and Longfellow School in Bridgeport on September 7.
