Press release:
On Thursday April 5, 2012, Stratford Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading, with the support of the Stratford PTA Council, will present the first ever, “Get Up, Get Out, Get Fit” program. An agility and fitness course will be set up at each elementary and middle school to allow ALL students to participate. Grade level classes will be exercising together from 830am-230pm in half hour segments. Students will participate by grade level in activities such as ladder drills, cone weaves and a 40-yard dash.
The program was developed by Stratford Pop Warner using many of the conditioning and agility drills that are used during the organizations’ Summer Speed Camp. Stratford Pop Warner created the Speed Camp 5 years ago as a means to prepare its football players and cheerleaders for the upcoming season, and is now offered to ALL Stratford children. Volunteers from Stratford Pop Warner will be at each school to facilitate the program with the support of parent volunteers through the individual school PTA/PTSAs and the Stratford PTA Council.
Stratford Pop Warner is the only youth Football and Cheerleading organization in Stratford. The organization follows National Pop Warner guidelines and welcomes all Stratford children between the ages of 5-15.
The Stratford PTA Council consists of the Presidents of all Stratford school PTA/PTSA’s. Its mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
