What qualities would you like to see in Stratford’s new chief of schools?

by:

Parents and others interested in the public school district in Stratford have just two more weeks to make it known what qualities they would like to see in whomever is hired to be the district’s new superintendent.

A five-question survey catering to the education board’s superintendent search will be available here on the district website through Sept. 28.

The following press release was distributed by the education board in June:

The Stratford Board of Education has begun the search for the next superintendent of schools. The board has selected CABE Search Services, an educational executive recruitment firm, and Dr. Jacqueline Jacoby, senior search consultant from CABE, to facilitate and assist with this important undertaking. CABE Search Services has been integral to the successful completion of superintendent searches throughout Connecticut.

The search will begin with scheduling of focus groups and forums to seek input from school and community members. The Stratford Board sees communication and community participation as essential components of a comprehensive search. Board Chairman Gavin Forrester added, “Our Board is committed to including the school staff and community in this process and is seeking input related to the characteristics and leadership qualities desired in the next educational leader.”

A Superintendent Search link will soon be available on the school website, www.stratfordk12.org, to keep all constituents up to date on the search process and focus group meeting times.

The board expects to appoint a new superintendent no later than December 2012, when Acting Superintendent Irene Cornish is set to retire.

    I believe:
It would be nice if children got the best possible all
    around education possible.
Education is more than learning by ROTE & BEING BRED for
the NEW TECHNOLOGY. Independent thinking to improve their
ability to use logic & controlled emotion.
Healthy minds. Healthy bodies. Values to play nice.

It would be nice if the Stratford Schools Superintendent
was truly independent of political non sense.

Instead of power pyramids of over priced, overbenefitted
Administrators, it would be better to do more with less.

The benefits are excessive, in costs, likely for kickbacks
    for the puppet > puppeteers.

The teachers’ pay is about $ 20,000 higher than the base line
    for upper class = $ 67,000.

Stratford politics is like soviet apparatchic & nomenklatura,
to benefit the inner party at the expense of the general
    population.

Someone that has the same attributes as Dr. Nancy Cetorelli-smart, dedicated, conscientious, a true leader, to name just a few.
