Chocolate Expo benefits Easter Seals

|

Yummy!

To indulge a sweet tooth, area residents might want to consider the 20th Annual Chocolate Lovers’ Expo to benefit Easter Seals on Sunday, Feb. 3, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Southbury.

Organizing the volunteer event is Maria Sanchez of Sweet Maria’s bakery of Waterbury. Proceeds will benefit the programs and services of Easter Seals, serving the special needs of infants, children and adults with disabilities in greater Waterbury, central, and northwestern Connecticut. About 1,000 visitors attended last year’s event.

The expo offers vendors the opportunity to showcase assortments of chocolate delights and other specialty food items and products — just in time for Valentines Day (Feb. 14) or other gift-giving occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.

Expo visitors may sample chocolate treats and specialty foods throughout the expo, as well as purchase items from all of the vendors.

Items will include “mouth-watering chocolate delights including candies, cakes, cookies, truffles, chocolate/caramel apples, fudge, chocolate mousse, chocolate covered strawberries, fruits, pretzels and more. Attendees also will have the chance to shop for unique gifts from pocket books, jewelry, and cosmetics to olive oil, kettle corn, candles and cooking items,” according to the folks at Easter Seals, in Waterbury.

Crown Plaza Hotel, 1284 Strongtown Road, Southbury. Sunday, Feb. 3, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. $20 advance, $25 door; $5 for age 5-12. Easter Seals: 203-754-5141, ext. 251.
