Bpt. takes 4th off, but trash haulers still working


If you see them, wish your garbage collectors a happy July 4th tomorrow.

While the rest of city government will have the day off, they’ll be on the job making sure whatever you placed in the trash isn’t roasting in the summer heat, drawing flies and grossing out any holiday guests.

City Offices, Transfer Station Closed Thursday, July 4;

Trash, Recycling Pickups to Continue as Scheduled


BRIDGEPORT, CT (July 3, 2013) – In observance of Independence Day, City Hall, Margaret E. Morton Government Center and the City’s Transfer Station located at 475 Asylum Street, will be closed on Thursday, July 4, and will reopen on Friday, July 5.

Trash and recycling pickups will continue as scheduled on Thursday.

    It’s a nice gesture, but in a City with financial problems is everyone being paid time an a half or more to work the holiday.
