Taking a hike — in Monroe

|

Couple a love for the outdoors with excellent fall foliage and it’s the prescription for a fine walkabout on some of the less beaten paths in Monroe. Monroe Park Ranger Dave Solek, who is also Monroe’s tree warden, treated a group of hikers to a woodland hike on the Paugussett Trail Saturday afternoon as part of the Family Fall Foliage Excursion, organized by the Monroe Land Trust and Tree Conservancy and the Monroe Historical Society. The outing drew 25 trekkers, the youngest of which was carried papoose-style by grandma.
