8-year-old boy struck by SUV


An 8-year-old boy suffered a leg injury Wednesday afternoon when he was hit by an SUV while walking with his sister in northern Bridgeport.

Police said the boy was hit by the eastbound vehicle at the intersection of Madison and Lincoln avenues around 4 p.m.

The boy was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. His sister was reportedly uninjured. Police said the driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Spokesman William Kaempffer said the accident remains under investigation, and that no charges had been filed Wednesday. The identity of the boy was not released.
