Store owner shot in robbery attempt

|

UPDATED 7 a.m.

Police are asking the public’s help in identifying  two suspects in an attempted armed robbery Tuesday night in which a Bridgeport store owner was shot.

A man and a woman entered the S&K Grocery at  856 Fairfield Avenue at about 8 p.m., and the woman appeared to lure the victim from behind the counter.

The man showed a black handgun, reports say, and there was scuffle and the man who owns the store was shot.

The victim was taken to a local hospital. His name and condition were not immediately available this morning.

The male suspect reportedly fled the store north on Iranistan Avenue toward Laurel Avenue. He was described as in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, wearing black jeans and a red and black jacket with white lettering on the back.

A witness at the scene said the man put the gun in his pocket when he left the store.

Anyone with information about their identities is asked to call Detective Michael Fiumidinisi at 203-581-5246.
