High winds cause Bridgeport scaffolding collapse

High winds caused a portion of  building scaffolding to collapse in Bridgeport Tuesday morning.

The collapse and the ripping off several sheets of building wrap closed a portion of State Street.

No one was injured in the collapse.

Winds were gusting up to 38 mph at the time of the collapse, around 9

Workers and a payloader cleared the scene of metal scaffolding, boards and debris before the road was reopened to traffic.

The building will be the new home of Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust headquarters at 570 State St.

When completed, the five-story building will house the agency’s offices on the ground floor and 30 mixed-income apartments above.

Because of its location on the edges of the city’s downtown, South End and West Side neighborhoods, it will be named Gateway at 570

looks like someone woke up late. I had to detour around the collapsed scaffolding around 7:45 this morning.
