A 19-year-old man is facing charges in Stratford after police say he admitted that he tried to lure a teenage girl into his car earlier this week.
Stratford Police Lt. Frank Eannotti said authorities received a report Wednesday that a suspicious man was trying to get the girl into his car. The girl told him that she was only 14, but he allegedly persisted.
Investigators were able to get video footage of the suspect’s car. They reportedly found the man, identified as Gary Belton-Tilghman, of Woodbridge, at a local business.
He was interviewed by investigators and allegedly confessed.
Belton-Tilghman was charged with third-degree stalking, risk of injury to a minor and breach of the peace. Police said he was held on bond.
