Blumenthal to tour Shelton fire scene


SHELTON-U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal will tour the scene of the devastating fire that collapsed a four story building on Howe Avenue Jan. 6.
The blaze displaced 29 residents on the upper floors and several small businesses including Howe Convenient, a florist and a hair salon on the lower level.
Accompanying the Senator on the 10 a.m. tour are Bill Purcell of the Valley Chamber of Commerce, Richard Knoll head of TEAM, Inc. in Derby, Michael Maglione, Shelton’s director of Public Safety and Emergency Services and Bernie Sweeney and Julio Casiano, the state director and deputy director of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The group will also visit then Echo Hose Fire station where firefighters collected donations for the families who lost everything in the blaze.
