Police identify victim in Friday shooting

Police in Bridgeport have confirmed that a man was shot in the leg Friday afternoon, in an incident that prompted a precautionary lockdown at nearby Bryant Elementary School.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting on Hancock Avenue near Fairfield Avenue around 2:50 p.m. Friday. They found that 25-year-old Jovan Holden, of Bridgeport, had been shot in the leg.

Authorities said the incident involved three men who were together inside a car on nearby Lenox Avenue when they were confronted by two other men. The men exited the car and fled.

The shooting remains under investigation. Police said Holden’s injury was not life-threatening.
