Vehicle hits house in Bridgeport

Update, 4:10 p.m.: Emergency crews confirm that no one was injured when a car hit the house on Savoy Street in Bridgeport this afternoon. The collision did significant damage to the front porch area of the house and the building inspector was reportedly at the scene checking the structure.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, but authorities say the driver had been trying to park on the street when his car suddenly accelerated, hitting the house.

A car has reportedly struck a house in the northern part of Bridgeport, causing major damage to the home.

Fire crews were sent to the scene at 156 Savoy Street at about 3:15 p.m. Friday. The first crews on the scene said that the car hit the porch of the two-and-a-half story home. There did not appear to be any injuries but emergency crews are investigating.

Drivers should be careful on Main Street because streets might be blocked and emergency vehicles might be on the way.
