A former school bus driver has been charged with sexually assaulting a student on the bus several times, and then continuing a sexual relationship with the student.
Alan Demand, 51, of Fowler Street in New Haven will be arraigned today in Milford Superior Court on two counts of second-degree sexual assault, illegal sexual contact and unlawful restraint.
The victim was older than 15, police said.
West Haven arrested Demand on Monday and he was held in custody over night. The alleged incidents occurred between October and December, said Sgt. David Tammaro, the police spokesman.
The student told a school resource officer about the assaults, and Demand was immediately suspended from his job, Tammaro said.
“Demand also conducted numerous cell phone conversations, and sexual picture texting,” at one point telling the victim “ Please don’t tell your mom anything else, cause I’ll go to jail”, Tammaro said.
