Maren Sanchez burial will be private

|

The Cody White Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements for Maren Sanchez, the 16 year-old Jonathan Law High student who was fatally stabbed at school on Friday, has announced that the girl’s burial will be private.

Calling hours will be held beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, “and will run until 7, or until every last person has had an opportunity to pay their respects,” said David J. DeRubeis, the funeral home’s managing partner.

Anticipating a large crowd, Cody White home has arranged for shuttle buses to bring mourners from the Parsons Government Center parking lot on West River Street to the funeral home on Broad Street.

“After visitation there is an after gathering at The Knights of Columbus Hall (on Bridgeport Avenue) for all to attend for further fellowship and refreshments,” DeRubeis said in an e-mail to the Connecticut Post.

Ever since I heard of this terrible news, I cried and still can’t get Maren out of my mind and heart. I’ve prayed every night for Maren and will continue to do so. I also pray for you, for I know you need it now more than ever. Please find comfort within your hearts and faith and be strong for Maren. As I read and learn about the special young lady she was, with such a beautiful smile, I feel she would not want you to suffer. Again, my condolences. A friend, Nilsa Sanchez.
