At least 1 dead in Milford shooting

This is the scene of the Milford shooting. Reporter Dan Tepfer says there is a man’s body undernearth the blue tarp.

Two people have been shot near Midway and Hollywood avenues in Milford. At least one of the victims is dead.

Reporter Daniel Tepfer on the scene reports “there is a man’s body under a blue tarp on a roof on Midway Ave. Neighbors tell me the man was shot and climbed up the ladder to the roof to get away from his assailant and died there.”

Police have not identified the victims, nor have given their conditions. Police did say it was an isolated incident and that “all parties are accounted for at this time.”

Here is what the Milford police department have released so far:

“The Milford Police Department is currently investigating a double shooting incident that occurred at 16 Midway Avenue, Milford on June 4, 2014 at approximately 12:46 pm. This is an incident isolated to this residence and all involved parties are accounted for at this time.

“As a precaution, police effected a lock down at Jonathan Law High School with the School Resource Officer and other resources during the incident due to the proximity to the incident. The school lockdown has been released and bus traffic will be diverted from the area.

“As the investigation continues, Milford Point Road (Meadows End Road) will be closed between Lansdale Avenue and Meadowside Road until further notice.”

One person has reportedly been taken into custody.

There is a heavy police presence in the area. along with ambulance crews and fire personnel.

People are being told to avoid the area and residents are being held outside of the perimeter of the scene.

Jonathan Law High School was locked down, but that lock down was lifted in about 10 minutes.

Property records for the 16 Midway Ave. house list the owner as Alicia Steinman. The house is a two-story colonial home which was built in 1991 and bought by Steinman in 2003.

The home contains three rooms and two bathrooms as well as fireplace. The house was appraised for $337,480 including land.

There is no indication that Steinman was involved in Wednesday’s shooting.
