Police: family left 5-year-old at Stratford beach

|

STRATFORD – The Odon-Brown family enjoyed a pleasant outing at Short Beach Sunday and afterwards they packed up and headed back to Bridgeport – leaving a 5-year-old at the beach.

On Monday, the boy’s mother, Tianah Brown, 24, of Kelsey Street, Bridgeport, was charged with risk of injury to a minor.

Shortly after 8 p.m. police said they got a call of the boy wandering the beach. The boy was crying and told officers he had come to the beach with his family but that they had left more than an hour earlier and he didn’t know where they were, police said.

After nearly two hours police said they went to the family’s home only to find that neither the boy’s mother nor his grandparents realized the boy was missing. Police said they notified the state Department of Children and Families of the incident.
