Elderly Trumbull man found driving the wrong way

An 87 year-old local man reported missing from his home was found early this morning, driving the wrong way on the Route 8/25 connector in Bridgeport, police said.

John Kochiss hadn’t driven in four years when he reportedly left his home Tuesday in a 2014 Nissan Versa.

Lt. Leonard Scinto said there were no accidents or injuries during Kochiss’ road trip and that the man is safe. “He was found shortly after 6 a.m. and he’s been brought to a local hospital for observation,” the police spokesman said.

TRUMBULL — Police are asking the public’s help in finding an 87 year-old man who is missing from his home and he believed to be driving a 2014 Nissan Versa with CT registration 831MXJ.

John Kochiss has not driven in four years, police said. He is 5’10, about 180 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes.  He was last seen wearing a dark flannel shirt and slippers.

Police say that Kochiss be headed to the Sherwood Diner in Westport, but anyone who spots him  or has information on his whereabouts is asked to Trumbull police at 203-261-3665.
