Trumbull man accused of raping children

TRUMBULL – A local man has been charged with sexually assaulting four children, three girls and a boy over a five-year period.

Javier Valdovinos, 54, of White Plains Road, was charged Wednesday with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, three counts of risk of injury to a minor and one count each of third-degree sexual assault and unlawful restraint in the first degree.

He was being held in lieu of $500,000 bond.

On April 13, police said a local woman complained her 12-year-old daughter had been sexually assaulted by Valdovinos, a friend of the family.

During the subsequent investigation by police and the state Department of Children and Families, three more victims including a 14-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl revealed they had also been sexually assaulted by Valdovinos going back five years, police said.

The boy told investigators Valdovinos had shown him pornography and had later raped him during a walk along the Pequonnock River.
