Two houses hit by lightning in Fairfield

|

FAIRFIELD-Firefighters responded to two lightning strikes just minutes apart during the height of the overnight storms Thursday.
Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bisson said the first occurred just about 10 p.m. at 240 Rock Ridge Road. Lightning struck a shed and traveled to the house causing minor damage.
Six minutes later lightning struck a home at 125 Mayweed Road damaging the roof and filling the attic with smoke.
Occupants were able to stay in their homes.
That afternoon a propane gas tank caught fire on grill outside 327 Toilsome Hill Road.
The fire destroyed the grill, damaged some nearby shrubbery and caused minor injuries to the homeowner.
Bissson said firefighters had to conduct a control burn of the remaining propane in the tank.
