Stratford contractor charged with fraud

STRATFORD – A local home improvement contractor has been charged with defrauding a homeowner out of $5,000.

John Kondakor, 45, owner of AAA Construction, was charged Tuesday with third-degree larceny, offering to do home improvements without being registered and failure to provide three days to cancel a contract. He was released after posting $5,000 bond.

According to police, on Sept. 1, 2012, a homeowner complained to police that he had given Kondakor a check for $5,000 for work that Kondakor never did.

Police said the homeowner told them he had hired Kondakor to replace his roof but after giving Kondakor the check he never heard back from him. Police said Kondakor’s home improvement license expired in 2000 and was not renewed.
