Fire in Bridgeport Saturday

|

Firefighters battled a fire that destroyed much of a four story building on the city’s east end Saturday afternoon.

Flames could be seen shooting out of the buildings fourth floor, which residents described as single room housing.

The fire reached a second alarm and nearby Stratford and Fairfield fire departments were called in to assist, according to a fire chief.

Firefighters were pulled out of the building after flames quickly engulfed the old building.

No one was reported hurt or missing.

A fire marshal is on scene investigating.
