A man who was shot in the leg late Tuesday near the Charles F. Greene Homes told police that he walked to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatment.
Major Wade, 20, of Bridgeport, said that he was in the area of Madison Avenue and North Avenue when he heard gunfire and realized that he was shot in the lower leg.
Police were notified by hospital employees at about 11:20 p.m., and although Wade claimed that he’d walked there “police received several varying accounts from a friend of the victim,” department spokesman William Kaempffer said.
A search of the area where Wade said that he’s been shot did not indicate a crime scene, Kaempffer said.
Officer Clifton Jarvis was called to Bridgeport Hospital on a report of a second shooting, at 1:35 a.m. Wednesday.
Felicia Rochester, 27, of Bridgeport, had been shot in the arm, and her boyfriend Andre Cruz, 28, also of Bridgeport, had abrasions but was not shot.
Cruz stated that he and Rochester were sitting in her car in the Greene Homes complex when a man approached and fired a shot into the car, which struck the woman in the forearm.
“Cruz appeared to be evasive in his answers but did state that he had an altercation earlier in the night with the suspect,” Kaempffer said.
Both incidents remain under investigation and it isn’t clear yet whether the two shootings are linked, he said.
Police say that two people were shot in two separate incidents near the Greene Homes housing complex.
A 20 year-old man was shot in the leg at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday on Madison Avenue near the housing complex, said William Kaempffer, the Bridgeport police spokesman.
A man and a woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries when they were shot at 1:36 a.m. this morning, also near the Greene Homes, Kaempffer said.
Police are continuing to investigate both incidents and at this time it isn’t clear whether the pair of shootings are related.
